JetSet→Guide→2027 Closure
KASE closed · Apr 4 – Nov 19, 2027 · Runway rebuild

Aspen Airport is closed for 229 days in 2027.

From April 4 to November 19, 2027, no aircraft lands at Aspen-Pitkin County. The whole summer and fall of private aviation into Aspen goes through Rifle and Eagle. JetSet meets the aircraft at the FBO and keeps one dedicated chauffeur and coordinator with your principal for the entire stay.

What this means for the office that runs the trip.

This is not a weather day or a two-week maintenance window. For the whole of Aspen's summer and fall, every private arrival lands 61 to 68 miles away and finishes the trip by road. Two small FBOs absorb Aspen's traffic on top of their own.

The constraint is ground, not air. Rideshare barely exists at Rifle. Taxis are few at Eagle. Every car service in the valley will be running 75 to 90 minute legs instead of a five-minute hop from Sardy Field, so vehicles and drivers are the thing that runs out on busy weekends.

JetSet is built for exactly this. One chauffeur and one coordinator stay with your principal from the first arrival to the last departure, on Storm Rider vehicles. Your EA briefs us once; we handle the FBO, the drive and every move in between.

How a 2027 trip works
01
Send the plan
Arrival airport (KRIL or KEGE), operator or tail if you have it, dates, party size and bags. Your EA or flight department can send it in one message.
02
We hold a dedicated team
One chauffeur and one coordinator for the whole stay. Storm Rider GMC Yukon AT4 or Mercedes AWD Sprinter, sized to the bags.
03
Planeside or FBO door
Met at Atlantic Rifle or Signature Eagle as the FBO's ramp rules allow. Bags loaded, on the road to Aspen in minutes.
04
All stay, then back out
Valley moves all stay. Departure day we work back from wheels-up and the 75–90 minute drive to the FBO.

2027 closure FAQ.

01

When is Aspen Airport closed in 2027?

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (KASE) closes to all aircraft on Sunday, April 4, 2027 at 11:00 PM and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, November 19, 2027 at 7:00 PM — 229 days. No commercial flights, no private jets, no general aviation.

02

Why is Aspen Airport closing for most of 2027?

The runway is being reconstructed and shifted to meet current FAA design standards. It is a full rebuild, not the short annual pavement maintenance closure, which is why it covers the entire summer and fall.

03

Where do private jets land when Aspen Airport is closed?

Most private aircraft will use Rifle Garfield County (KRIL), 61 miles and about 75 minutes from Aspen, or Eagle County Regional (KEGE), 68 miles and about 90 minutes. Grand Junction (GJT) is about 2 hours 30 minutes. Your charter operator or flight department chooses the airport based on aircraft, runway and slot availability.

04

Rifle or Eagle — which is better for Aspen?

Rifle is the closest by drive time and its only FBO is Atlantic Aviation, the same operator as at Aspen, so crews and owners get the same FBO experience. Eagle has the longer runway and suits large-cabin aircraft, and it works well when the trip also includes Vail or Beaver Creek.

05

How does ground transportation work during the closure?

Send JetSet the arrival airport, your operator or tail if you have it, dates, party size and bags. We hold one dedicated chauffeur and coordinator for the whole stay, meet the aircraft at the FBO and drive to Aspen. If the airport changes, your EA or crew tells us and the team goes to the new FBO.

06

Do you track the flight?

Where flight data is available we watch it, but many private tails are blocked from public tracking. We never rely on it alone: we confirm the airport and the arrival window with your EA or crew, and the team is positioned before the aircraft is due.

07

When should I book?

As early as the trip is known. With every Aspen arrival routing through two smaller airports for the whole summer and fall, vehicles and FBO time are the constraint. Holiday weekends, Food & Wine, Aspen Ideas and Labor Day will be the tightest.

08

What about the drive from Denver?

Denver works for commercial connections. In summer Independence Pass (Highway 82) is usually open, which makes Denver to Aspen about 3.5–4 hours; when the pass is closed (roughly early November to late May) the route goes via Glenwood Springs and takes longer.

229 days. Two airports. One team.

Hold your closure-period coverage before the summer calendar fills. Confirmations within the hour during operating hours.
