How does the 2027 Aspen airport closure affect ground transport?

Aspen-Pitkin County (KASE) closes to all aircraft from April 4, 2027 at 11 PM to November 19, 2027 at 7 PM — 229 days of runway reconstruction. Private arrivals shift to Rifle (KRIL), Eagle (KEGE) or Grand Junction (GJT) for the duration.

For ground transport, closure season looks like the diversion ladder made permanent — and Rifle and Eagle are already inside every JetSet reservation. The car meets the aircraft at the field you actually use, Aspen and Snowmass stay 75–90 minutes away, and nothing about the booking model changes.

Plan the season early

Closure season concentrates every Aspen arrival onto two or three fields, so ramp space, slots and ground capacity for the popular 2027 weeks will commit earlier than usual. The full closure guide — dates, field-by-field detail, what to brief your operator — is at jetsetaspen.com/guide/2027-closure.

Which alternate is best during the closure?

Rifle is the closest by drive time (about 75 minutes to Aspen) with no curfew; Eagle suits larger aircraft and Vail Valley stays. Grand Junction is the long-haul fallback. One reservation covers the choice either way.

Do rates change during the closure?

Rates stay per vehicle per day or half day, by date tier, exactly as now — there is no closure surcharge.
